Candere /kanˈdi.re/ is the latin root of words like candle and candescent and means to shine or to glow. Crystal’s background in photography grew from an obsession with light, texture, and color. Candere Clay was born of this passion for how those same elements play together to create one-of-a-kind handmade lighting designs.

The duality of Crystal’s pottery aesthetic comes through with the chaotic and, often-unpredictable, alchemy of the pit firing process as it contrasts the bone-white meticulously thrown and hand-carved translucent porcelain. In life there is always room for intention and pause among beautiful chaos.
